The Network

The "African Network of Basin Organizations (ANBO)" was created on the occasion of its Inaugural General Assembly held in Dakar from 10 to 11 July 2002 as an International Non-Profit Organization for an indefinite period. Since its creation, ANBO has been constituted as a voluntary network of basin, lake and aquifer organizations set up with the assistance of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO). ANBO was created to respond to the need to coordinate and strengthen cooperation among African OBs. As a result, ANBO groups these entities as a single, representative umbrella organization within the framework of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW), which coordinates the water policy within the New Partnership for Africa's Development ( NEPAD) of the African Union.
